Dr. Collins came to HCVC in the summer of 2005 before becoming the practice owner with his wife Angela in 2012. He is a 2004 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation he stayed on and worked in the Production Management Medicine department at the veterinary school where he helped provide veterinary service to local farmers as well as teach senior veterinary students. Dr. Collins also attended Virginia Tech for his undergraduate education where he met Angela, who is a native of Halifax County. They returned to the area to be near family and help with the family farm. Dr. Collins' interests include small animal dermatology and beef cattle herd management. In his spare time Dr. Collins enjoys raising purebred angus cattle and spending time with Angela and their daughters Avary and Aubrey.
Dr. Collins became the owner of HCVC in 2012. She is a 2005 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. She grew up in Halifax County on her family's purebred Angus and tobacco farm. After graduating from Halifax County High School she attended Virginia Tech where she received her undergraduate degree in Animal and Poultry Sciences. Dr. Collins' interests include small animal orthopedic and soft tissue surgery and large animal ultrasound. In her time away from the practice she enjoys working with her three dogs Lilly, Penny, and Jasmine, gardening, cooking, and spending time with Avary and Aubrey.
Joanna joined the HCVC family in August of 2016. She has always had a love for animals, and as a child she rescued strays and brought them home. Joanna enjoys spending time with friends and family, going to the lake, and hanging out with her beloved cat & dog, Cholo and Layla.
Tiffany joined the HCVC family in 2016. She received her degree from Penn Foster College and hopes to pursue her bachelors in the near future. Tiffany enjoys trauma and emergency cases. In her free time she enjoys going to races, riding horses and spending time with her family. She has two dachshunds, Rosoce and Toby, a cat named Hissy, chickens, ducks and two horses.
Kim joined HCVC as a receptionist in November of 2011 and has a life long love of animals. She has had many pets over the years from dogs and cats to rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and hermit crabs. She resides with her husband, Chip. She enjoys working in her yard, going to the beach, camping, and spending time with her family.
Alyssa started with HCVC in December of 2023 but is no stranger to animals. Alyssa has a great love for all farm animals but especially her dog, Bjorn and her 4 horses, cows and chickens. She would like to pursue a career as a Licensed Veterinary Technician in the near future.
Savannah joined our team in June of 2024. She graduated from Halifax County High School and originally began her journey to become a radiology technician but has enjoyed being around and working with all the patients here. In her spare time, she likes to go hunting, fishing and spending time with her family and dogs: Remi, Luke & George.
Teresa joined HCVC as a receptionist in 2023. She is a Halifax County native who loves working with animals and helping people. In her spare time, she loves her church, County Line Baptist, and spending time with her husband, Chris and boys, Levi & Ben. She enjoys camping, going to the mountains with their family and dogs: Fox, Buddy & Jax.
